Investment Philosophy & Strategy
We are long-term investors who seek to achieve capital gains over a period of three to five years. Sunsino invests mainly in the emerging high-tech companies that have proven business models with unique innovative technology and have the potential to become the regional industry leaders in high-growth industries.
Information technology and biotechnology are the main industries that we believe will offer great promise as we enter the twenty-first century. Within information technology, our focus is principally on the semiconductor & ASIC design, optical electronics, critical components, telecommunications infrastructure, internet infrastructure, and e-commerce software industries. Within the biotechnology we invest primarily in biochip & bioinformatics, transgenics & tissue engineering, gene therapy related, herbal & Chinese medicine, biomaterial, medical devices, drug delivery system, & E-Health.
Although we prefer to get involved with a company in the very early stage development, we invest at all stages—depending on the company and its focus. We take a board seat with some important companies we invest in. We create value for companies via technology transfer and infusion of management and marketing alliances. Our investment model relies on close collaboration among the management team, investors, and the entrepreneurs we back. Our geographical focuses are currently Taiwan and the Silicon Valley, and in the near future, will extend to China and South East Asia.
